FashionG.com (formally it was “The Forum of fashion and textile technocrats (FFTT) ) is a nonprofit autonomous organization governed by ex-nift and textile graduates. Its managing director. Anil Aggarwal, Discusses some aspects of Fashion and design Ethic in a conversation with Shailja Katyal.Times of India News reporter
Was the Forum of of Fashion and Textile Technocrats set up with any specific objective in mind?

Yes. In our country there is very little interaction between fashion and textile professionals, between design and technology professionals and between the industry and institutions. Hence, a lot of talent remains unutilised. So in 1996 we set up this autonomous body to facilitate better understanding between the industry professionals, merchandisers, designers and all those related with the fashion trade of each others needs. Now NIFT has seven centres in India. We have built up a bio-data bank of professionals to cater to the needs of the export houses.

How can fashion and textile professionals be motivated to work cohesively?

FFTT has been organizing various seminars, workshops, fashion shows, exhibitions and displays which provide one-stop, comprehensive knowledge about the trade. We also organise industry trips, market surveys and visits to export units, textile mills and buying houses for the educational institutes.

What reasons would you ascribe to the slump in exports?

The reason is clearly the lack of information pool relating to recent developments in the industry. As you might be aware, the Rao government had asked the Indian ambassadors abroad to provide information about the demand and developments going on in foreign countries. If they can prepare a survey chart based on this information and make a newsletter to be distributed by the AEPC, it could be a big step forward in enhancing exports.

FASHION TALK SHOW —–>

The Forum of Fashion and Textile Technocrats is organizing an interactive talk show on “Fashion and fashion technology” at the India International Center on August 9.

Good news for fashion industry!

To build up and maintain an information pool relating to recent development in the industry and knowledgeable sense of entrepreneur ship in the struggling professionals making them capable of competing effectively and to provide greater interaction strengthening the relation between the fashion and textile professional, the design, technology and management professionals and the textile institutes, Forum of fashion and textile technocrats (FFTT) has come forward to develop a comprehensive and active interaction with the industry professionals, designers, merchandisers and stylists etc. The forum comprising of professionals from various related fields aims to be the voice for the fashion industry, conducting seminars, workshops, trade shows, exhibitions and career counseling.
